As a member of the Massif des Bauges regional nature park, Lathuile is a small village in the south of the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. A member of the community of communes of the Pays de Faverges, the commune had 982 inhabitants in 2012. The village is located on the western shore of Lake Annecy, without being on its banks, at the beginning of the Faverges valley.

Climate

Lathuile, with a median altitude of 455 m, has a continental mountain climate characterised by a marked humidity. The winters are colder and snowier than those observed in the foreland and the summer season is mild with occasional stormy episodes. The shoulder seasons (April and October) are also on average wetter.

Tourism

The commune of Lathuile with the country of Faverges are turned towards tourism with in particular the presence of the lake of Annecy, the ski resorts of La Sambuy-Seythenex, Val de Tamié and Montmin as well as the exploitation of the rich local heritage (museums, castles, etc). The commune's tourism promotion is carried out through the tourist office of the "Sources du lac d'Annecy - Pays de Faverges" community of communes. The area offers a varied range of tourist facilities with around fifty establishments throughout the community of municipalities, i.e. around 12,300 tourist beds (50% of which are camping sites - open-air hotels). The capacity of the commune is estimated at 3,064 tourist beds in 2013. The accommodation offer of the commune is divided between a gîte auberge "La Ferme de Pontgibaud" offering a capacity of 62 beds, as well as three stopover gîtes. In 2012, the commune's territory hosted five campsites (open-air hotels) offering 736 pitches
