Where to travel in 2023 in France and around the world in 19 destinations?

It's time to take stock of our 2022 travels and inspire you to travel in 2023 whether in France, Europe or the other side of the world. As you may have noticed if you have been following us for a while on our travel blog OneDayOneTravel, 2022 has been an extremely adventurous year, one of the richest since we started sharing our experiences as travel bloggers here. We explored no less than 19 destinations in 2022 and as many where we recommend you travel in 2023.

In this blog post, you will find all the links to our articles and travel guides of the year and all our videos.

As far as foreign destinations are concerned, 2022 was a rich year.

We also have a local travel agency MimpiGO, based in BALI, Indonesia. Since 2021, we have been offering 100% tailor-made, authentic, eco-responsible and solidarity-based trips.

We started it under the snow in Quebec between the Laurentian region, Montreal and Quebec City. We also went back to Quebec on a road trip this summer on the Route des Explorateurs which crosses 3 regions of Quebec: the Outaouais, Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Laurentians that we love so much. This summer, we also escaped to the island of GranCanaria, a medium-haul destination where the weather is fine all year round. In terms of dream destinations, it was the islands of the Bahamas that opened their arms to us, with their paradisiacal beaches, culture, history and heritage. A paradise on earth!

The American West was also part of this year rich in destinations. We travelled almost 5000 km on a road trip between Denver and Los Angeles, passing through Las Vegas and above all a dozen national parks such as Death Valley and Bryce Canyon.

It is finally under the sun of Thailand between the madness of Bangkok, the Northern road and its islands that we end this year 2022 and will start 2023! What a pleasure to rediscover this South-East Asian country that we had visited 9 years ago for the first time.

As far as French destinations are concerned, we did quite a lot of kilometres during our 2022 tour of France between Chartres and the Eure-et-Loir, Albi and the Tarn, Agen, Toulouse, Millau, the Camargue, the Luberon, the Savoie around Chambéry, the Vosges-du-Sud, the Haute-Saône, the Belfort territory without forgetting Flanders between Lille and Ghent in Belgium along the water and finally the Opal Coast in the Hauts-de-France.

Estes Park Rocheuses Lily Lake

The list is as impressive as ever, year after year.

And it's all thanks to you! M E R C I

You're probably wondering where our road will lead us in 2023. Some answers at the end of the article.

Where to travel in 2023 in France and around the world in 19 destinations?

This year again, travel has taken on many faces. From the journey which is a source of strength to the journey which makes you stronger, from the challenging journey to the journey of passion, there are several ways of travelling and this is what we like, surely you do too. This is one of the riches of travel.

When people ask us how many countries we've visited, we never really answer this question because for us, it's not the number of destinations visited that count but the richness of the experiences we've had as well as the encounters. And as you know, we are rather adept at slow travel.

So long live travel and sharing! And keep on being curious and exploring the world with us.

What about business?

We met our financial goals this year as professional travel bloggers. A turnover shared between missions for territories and brands related to tourism, the sale of photo and video content, and affiliation on the blog. A winning trio that allows us to end 2018 with a smile ^^

The realization of the project on the Explorers' Route last August in Canada also confirmed that we were capable of organizing and coordinating a mission with several partners and bloggers. We hope to repeat the experience in the future.

That's why we are so excited to start 2023!

And all of this is once again largely thanks to you all, so thank you again because making a living from your passion is not necessarily easy, especially in the first few years. As you can see, if you give yourself the means, you can succeed in making your dreams come true and we hope to be able to travel for many years to come! We are still only 2 behind our screens but the work to be done on a daily basis is enormous contrary to what you probably think. And yes, we "sell dreams", but nothing happens without effort! So, we'll see what happens in 2023 and if the team grows...

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners who have trusted us this year, but let's get back to the dream and the trips that have animated us this year and that will hopefully inspire you to travel in 2023.

Traveling in Quebec in January and February

Our year 2022 started under the snow in Montreal. Then it was in the Laurentian region that we tasted the joys of winter for 8 days.

Où voyage en 2019 Montréal neige

We explored the great Canadian spaces between frozen lakes, fir trees and birch forests by dogsled, snowmobile, skates, snowshoes and even by helicopter. And that's just one hour's drive from Montreal! Imagine a natural winter landscape where the silence is only broken by the wind caressing the snow-covered branches or the crunch of footsteps on the ice.

Then we went to Quebec City to rediscover it under a thick blanket of snow. An atmosphere so different from the summer period.

We also took the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and try out the skijoring at the Duchesnay resort located not far from Quebec City.

Traveling to the Bahamas in March

Welcome to Paradise!

We spent 3 weeks traveling in the Bahamas for the first time last March between the islands of San Salvador, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, the Exumas, Stocking Island and finally New Providence which is home to Nassau, the capital of the archipelago. These names may not mean much to you, but they do!

Traveling to the Bahamas means enjoying beautiful beaches and turquoise waters, but it also means immersing yourself in a rich history, deep-rooted culture, and age-old traditions.

Tour de France in spring (April - June)

Between April and June, we hit the roads of France. We love to travel abroad as you know but we also love to take the time to discover or rediscover our beautiful French regions.

It all started in Eure-et-Loir, in Chartres to be exact. A city that we didn't know at all and that really enchanted us.

We then headed south to Albi, which was also an opportunity to discover the Tarn department.

Agen, which is not so far away, also opened its doors to us, as did the Lot-et-Garonne, and here again, there were many beautiful surprises!

Visit Agen by boat, by bike or on foot

After a short stay in Toulouse to meet up with friends, we headed for the Aveyron and Millau for the travel bloggers' fair. The opportunity to discover a region we only knew since the famous viaduct ^^ We like the warmth of the south and it's in Camargue and Luberon that we spent the next 2 weeks testing the house exchange. 2 really positive experiences that we would like to repeat in 2019 and that allow us to save money!

Visit the Luberon between nature and heritage

We then started to go up slowly by exploring the Vosges-du-Sud, the Haute-Saône and the Belfort territory with the visits of Luxeuil, Vesoul and Belfort on the city side. A first for us in these 3 departments of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and we hope not the last!

The end of our road trip in France took us to Alsace and then to Hauts-de-France (see video below).

August in Quebec on the Explorers' Route

For 15 days, we went on a road trip with the bloggers Clo and Clem and Refuse to Hibernate to discover the Route des Explorateurs, a new tourist route in Quebec that crosses the Outaouais, Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Laurentians. The culmination of a personal project that we hope will be the first of many. Each duo of bloggers had its own theme.

The ideal road trip if you're looking for a good mix between urban exploration (Montreal and Ottawa) and a stay in the Canadian wilderness between forests and lakes.

September in Savoie and Flanders

Back in France at the beginning of September, we jumped on a train to Savoie, to discover the area around Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains. If you're a fan of hiking in the middle of nature and breathtaking views, we invite you to read or re-read our blog post full of nice ideas for a weekend in the mountains.

We have also tested 2 accommodations, a castle near Chambéry and a chalet in the resort of La Féclaz, which could definitely make you want to spend a stay in the Alps in 2019.

Check out this article from our travel blog: stay in Savoie.

We also went along the water to discover Flanders between Lille and Ghent in Belgium. An absolutely magical and unforgettable stay of a few days. You can read about this adventure in our blog post, which makes us want to go back just by reading it again!

October and November road trip in the American West

5 weeks on the road between Denver in Colorado and Los Angeles in California. We crossed 5 states in all, including Utah, Arizona and Nevada.

road-trip-usa-colorado-utah-arizona-nevada-californie-blog-voyage

Between the visit of Denver, the Rocky Mountains between the beautiful colours of autumn and the first snows, the sublime desert landscapes of Utah notably in Moab, Monument Valley which we don't present any more, Page and Lake Powell where we could visit notably Antelope Canyon in a different way, Bryce Canyon and its fairy chimneys by thousands, Zion Park, Las Vegas and its excessiveness, Death Valley and its desert immensity and finally Los Angeles and its stars, we didn't have time to be bored. It was with an undisguised pleasure that we replayed "Thelma and Louise" with a very different ending fortunately ^^

Our articles and videos are still being published so let's stay close but you can already find the following articles:

December 2022 and January 2023 in Thailand

It was in Thailand and especially in Bangkok that we spent the end-of-year celebrations before heading north to Chiang Mai. The year 2023 started in the south of the country, in the Andaman Sea between the islands of Koh Mook and Koh Lipe.

In conclusion on where to travel in 2023 in France and in the world,

After these ideas of 19 destinations, we hope to have given you the desire to travel in 2023 whether in France, Europe or in the world.

What is the destination that makes you dream the most?

After this year of fulfilled dreams and trips, each one more beautiful than the next, we can only hope that our adventures will continue for a long time. Our thirst for discovery has never been greater.

That's what passionate people do, they never stop!

In 2023, we already have a lot of projects on the way in France and abroad. We can't tell you everything yet, but if you're a mountain fan, we'll be going back to the French Alps very soon.

We also want to continue discovering our beautiful French regions in spring 2023, this time from a new angle. We'll tell you all about it in due course of course but one thing is for sure, we'll be going back to see our Corsican friends!

We also really want to explore Eastern Europe, which we know very little about.

As far as far away destinations are concerned, we hope to return to Indonesia (yes, again!) but also to the islands of Reunion, Mauritius and Mayotte.

You still lack ideas for destinations to travel in 2024?

You can also take inspiration from our travels of 2017 and our page with all the destinations that we visited in France, Europe and the world.

So, where are you planning to travel in 2024?
