What are the dates of the most beautiful Christmas markets in France?

The Colmar Christmas market

The Colmar Christmas market is one of the most famous in Alsace. And it's easy to see why! There is actually not one, but six markets throughout the city. The one on Place Jeanne d' Arc is mainly devoted to gastronomy. On Place de l'Ancienne Douane, you will also find something to delight your taste buds, as well as stalls dedicated to crafts. The Place des Six Montagnes Noires will delight children with its many toys and its wooden horse carousel. Finally, the Place des Dominicains will be devoted to Christmas trees and decorations. It is also an opportunity to stroll along the illuminated streets and admire the old half-timbered houses. See you from 26 November to 29 December 2021.

The Christmas market of Strasbourg

Also ranked each year in the top of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe, it is THE star of the Christmas markets. Created in 1570, it has managed to preserve all its authenticity. As a result, every year more than two million visitors stroll between the 300 or so wooden chalets in the town, which is decked out for the occasion with its most beautiful garlands. The programme includes a huge fir tree to be admired on Place Kléber, shows and concerts, and ice skating on the ice rink, all in a festive atmosphere. The Strasbourg market will take place this year from 26 November to 26 December 2021.

The Amiens Christmas market

Since 1997, the capital of Picardy has been converted to the magic of Christmas. There are 130 chalets spread out over 2 km, with craft and gastronomic products. The animations are not to be outdone, with for example a toboggan run in the middle of a forest of fir trees! We also appreciate the sound and light show at the cathedral. All of these qualities have led to this market being nominated several times in the category "Best Christmas Market in Europe". Come and make your own opinion, from 26 November to 30 December 2021.

The Lyon Christmas Market

This market will take place from 1 December to 31 December 2021. Like all the others, Lyon offers a wide range of products to be tasted, from tartiflette, to oysters, to aligot. All of this, of course, accompanied by mulled wine. Without forgetting the animations. But what makes this place different is that it also hosts the Fête des Lumières, from 8 to 11 December 2021. For four days, the city welcomes 3 million people, who come to enjoy the magic of Christmas while enjoying the lights and sound of the streets.

The Kaysersberg Christmas market

For Christmas, this authentic little Alsatian town puts on its best clothes. The market is open from 26 November to 19 December 2021 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 8pm. Around thirty chalets are set up at the foot of the castle ruins, in the heart of the historic centre. Carefully selected, half of the exhibitors come from the region and offer local products. The opportunity to taste numerous culinary specialities, all in a festive and warm atmosphere!

The Mulhouse Christmas market

Let's stay in eastern France, with the Mulhouse Christmas market, from 24 November to 27 December 2021. There will be no festivities on 25 December. It is distinguished from the others by its Etofféeries. As explained on the city's website, "each year, Mulhouse creates a new Christmas fabric and dresses the Town Hall, its streets, the chalets, the trees... Each collection offers specific motifs and colours, taken from the textile history of Mulhouse". There will also, of course, be plenty of food and craft products to buy.

The Reims Christmas market

The third largest Christmas market in France will take place from 26 November 2021 to 3 January 2022. 140 chalets will be set up in front of the Notre-Dame de Reims cathedral. In addition to discovering handicrafts, toys and other tasty treats, you will have the opportunity to visit the city at nightfall, illuminated by the light of a torch. Another activity proposed is a guided tour to discover the secrets of the City of the Sacres and the Christmas tradition.

The Montbéliard Christmas market

Also known as "Les lumières de Noël" (Christmas lights ) thanks to its numerous illuminations, this market will take place from 27 November to 28 December 2021. At the foot of the Saint-Martin temple, 160 craftsmen will be installed. And let's not forget the Children of Light concert on 7 December. All in white, with a crown of candles, 150 children from the Montbéliard region will celebrate Saint Lucia in front of the Town Hall. A magical show not to be missed!

The Toulouse Christmas market

The Toulouse market is celebrating its 20th edition. The event will take place from 26 November to 26 December 2021 on the Place du Capitole. There, you can wander between the white chalets, looking for decorations, toys and handicrafts. Food lovers will have plenty to enjoy, with stands selling mulled wine, churros and aligot. As for the children, they will be able to visit Father Christmas' chalet every day. Note that this market is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
